To keep student interest each week is to introduce them to the introduction they would learn the important of the class what is the specifics information that goes along with it. There are many different perspectives about adult learning, and it is relative and separate the early childhood development practices from the overall approach to adult learning. The belief of many authors have their own learning styles and apply to adult and early childhood. They present their own learning style by presenting it to themselves which is based in their own learning environment. Andragogy is the art of science helping adult learn (Malcom Knowles, 1980). The experience I have is the same experiences that Knowles applied. The way I learn and the way I use the learning theories to elevate my enthusiasm to learn. Yes, I get excited about learning more. There are five assumptions to andragogy that will help adult learn. 1.self-concept, I have self-concepts of my own learning directions. 2. Breaching International Markets Essay Measuring a potential business venture has many aspects which the international manager must be aware of in order to convey the correct information back to the decision makers. Being ignorant to any of the aspects can lead to a false representation of the project, and hence an uninformed decision being passed. In order for a business to survive it must grow. For growth to be optimal, management must first be able to identify the most attractive prospective leads. The country as a whole, specifically geography, government, and financial aspects must be looked at in order to yield the best possible picture of the market a company wishes to enter. Concentration should be placed on gathering reliable facts that are backed up by more than one source. It is to be hoped that after creating a picture of the market, managements analysis of the potential business venture and plan of action will be structured as to avoid losses and to find the most profitable scenarios. The success of the multinational corporation lies on the shoulders of its management. International management and organization-design expert Henry Mintzenberg says every CEO has three essential duties: direct supervision, development of the organizations strategy, and management of the organizations boundary conditions. Top managements responsibility at and beyond the organizations boundaries is largely a communication responsibility; however, no commonly accepted model exists for decision, execution, and assessment of communication opportunities. Within even some of the largest and most venerable organizations, the process used is haphazard and inconsistent. The Wyatt Companys survey of communications professionals showed that just 58.1 percent agreed that their organizations communication objectives are linked to business objectives, and 83.3 percent reported that their organizations conduct no formal review of return on communications investment. CEOs must establish and reinforce an organizations image in public by viewing each target public as a client; by doing research, looking at trends, and talking to experts, a CEO focuses on selling what the client wants to buy.1Finding a country to conduct business in can be a very easy task depending on if the organizations top management follows the advice of Mr. Mintzenberg. The way a company normally discovers where to conduct research is through leads on potential operations from outside sources. The selection of which leads to investigate becomes the difficult task. After sifting through the leads and finding the right ones to investigate management must formulate an international marketing plan. This further helps management in locating potential markets for their products. The first step is to use secondary research to find out what the sales potential is in a given market. Asking the questions of need, demand, and support gives one a starting point for research. If we were a company that sold pants we might want to ask the following questions. Is there a need for pants? Is it cold enough there to wear pants? Do people that demand the pants have money? These are the questions that one should ask of potential markets. Table 1-located at the end of the paper-shows the statistics that are needed for a general market picture. After gathering the information from the secondary research, the picture of a potential market becomes more evident. However, to make the picture clearer, one must conduct primary research. This research outlines the specifics of the potential market that directly pertain to the product. Robert Douglas book, Penetrating the International Market, addresses the issue of locating potential markets in greater detail.2 After finding a lead that contains profitable markets it is necessary to analyze the venture as a whole. The decisions of companies must be based on the facts of reliable sources on all investments. To gather the information needed for investment projects, m anagement must organize a competent feasibility team. The members of this team should be comprised of employees of the company, this is so that the knowledge will stay within the company. If the resources are not available for an employee conducted study then outside consultants may be used, it may also be beneficial to use a combination of the two. The first step in conducting a study is to design it by using project objectives as the base. During the second step the team must be staffed with people that have the ability to solve problems in any situation. In the third step the team should be properly placed and instructed. In the fourth and final step the product of the feasibility study should be properly communicated to the decision-making management.3 Table 2-located at the end of the paper-shows a general timeline that a company follows through the progression of a feasibility study. The design of a feasibility study first assumes that a company possesses the skills and resour ces necessary to be competitive in the market under analysis. Management must know the limits of its operations abroad. The operating margin for the expense of establishing and starting operations abroad should be easily recoverable within a reasonable time period. The design should also include the managements goals, which comes down from the investors of the company. The goals of management should be to acquire specific knowledge of the partner, in a joint venture situation, as well as the financial aspects, and the business-environment. Essay In this essay I am going to discuss how I would direct Act 3 Scene 5 from William Shakespeares, Romeo and Juliet, first produced in 1595. Since then, there have been modern productions where the original text has been adapted for film. Considering this, I am going to direct a film version, explaining in detail Act 3 Scene 5. I will develop ideas based on two films, Romeo and Juliet directed by Franco Zeffirelli in 1968 and Romeo and Juliet directed by Baz Luhrmann in 1997. To make this play relevant to todays society I will set it in modern day England because I do not think that a traditional setting will appeal to a modern audience. To portray the conflict between the two families I will have the Montagues and Capulets different religions. In Shakespeares original text, we do not find out why the families are opposed, and why it would anger both families for Romeo and Juliet to marry. We do know that in Shakespeares time, it was considered a mortal sin to be trying to be wed while already married. It was believed that you would certainly go to hell and no Friar would conduct the ceremony. Nowadays, it is the choice of the person who they marry. I will explain this situation by Juliets family being Hindus and therefore an arranged marriage would be a normal thing for her. This will also explain why it is such a bad thing for them to marry. The Montagues would dislike the Capulets possibly because of their racial background. This would represent the ra cism and discrimination that still goes on today. However Romeo and Juliet will represent the young generation of people who do not have these views and have put their families prejudices behind them, which is one of Shakespeares main plot lines. Instead of changing the text so that it is in modern day language, I will keep the words how Shakespeare wrote them. I believe the language is essential to the feel of the play and many of the lines are famous and recognisable as they are. Romeo, Romeo, where for art thou Romeo is known worldwide and is immediately associated with Romeo and Juliet. I also believe the language itself sounds romantic and would better express how the characters are feeling for each other. It will not matter that some lines will have to be removed to make it a suitable length for a film. I do not think any understanding will be lost because the new visual aspect, combined with the script, will successfully make up for this. I will direct Act 3 Scene 5 from line 65, where Lady Capulet enters. Prior to this, Juliet has said goodbye to Romeo, who after getting married and spending the night with Juliet, must leave for Mantua. In the rest of the scene, it is revealed to Juliet of the arrangements for her to marry Paris. Her parents are united in this decision and when she refuses, they threaten to disown her. Alone with the Nurse, Juliet asks her for advice. She replies that Juliet should marry Paris and Romeo is nothing compared to him. Juliet is shocked, as the Nurse is one of the only people she trusts and who knows of her love for Romeo. She pretends to agree with her advice and says the only person who can help her is Friar Lawrence. She claims she will do what he suggests or if that fails, take her own life. I chose this scene because I believe it is crucial to the development of the plot and the outcome of the play. If the Capulets, on seeing Juliets strong objections, had not forced her to marry Paris, she would never have had to take drastic measures to avoid it. She would never have had to take the potion of the Friars, leading to death of both her and Romeo. She would have been able to get in touch with him another way and the whole tragedy need not have happened. The actors I want for this film would have to represent the characteristics and personalities of the original way the characters are portrayed in the text. When you read the play, you get a personal opinion of what the people look like and I am using what I think, based on what they say and do. In Act 3 Scene 5 line__ to end, there are four characters, Juliet, the Nurse, Lady Capulet and Capulet. In the scenes previous, Juliet comes across as being pretty because Romeo forgets all about Rosaline when he sees her, young, on Lammas Eve, she shall be fourteen. and innocent as she is inexperienced. In this scene, she develops and we see a new side to her. She is outwardly defiant and confident as she disobeys her parents. I think that actress Parminda Nagra (Bend It Like Beckham) would be perfect for the role. She is young, in my opinion, pretty and she has experience in taking on a role where she is fighting against her authoritative parents over what she wants to do with her life. Who or what do you think was responsible for the deaths of Romeo and Juliet? EssayThroughout the scene there are moments like this. I would emphasise them in the hope that the audience will pick up on the double meanings. To do this I will do a close up on the actor or actress, to make it memorable, and have the actor pause for a few seconds after the line has been delivered. This will add to the impact of the line and give time for the audience to think about what has just been said. When Lady Capulet is talking to Juliet about Romeo she mentions Tybalt and she assumes this is why she is upset, That he shall soon keep Tybalt company. This line ties in strongly with some of the themes of the play like death and fate. What Shakespeare intends by this is for us to realise that she wants Romeo dead, like Tybalt has but, as the play progresses, we see that Romeo dies in the Capulet vault and therefore is literally, keeping Tybalt company. There is a strong sense of irony throughout this scene. I would emphasise this particular line by panning across with the actress as she walks nearer to Juliet, and then cutting to Juliets horrified reaction. I would also increase the lighting on Lady Capulet, to symbolise she is, although unaware, enlightened to what will happen. More irony is present later in the scene. Most of the characters unintentionally say things that later come true. This is a direct link with one of the plays themes, fate. Delay this marriage for a month, a week, or if you do not, make the bridal bed in the dim monument where Tybalt lies. Juliet is saying she would rather die than marry Paris but in fact, this becomes the case. Shakespeare has let the audience know that both of the main characters die by including the Prologue but he also drops clues throughout the play, letting you know more details about the death before it has happened. This is to intrigue the audience and keep them interested. I would stress this line because if the audience pick up on its relevance, it will make it more exciting to watch. I would emphasise its importance by using music. In the lines before it, I would have the music slowly building up to a climax when the line is being said and then going quiet and slow. This will have a dramatic subconscious effect to the audience. The line will stand out, but because music will be playing throughout this scene, it will not be obvious why. This technique was used in the Luhrmanns adaptation. He used stops and starts of music particularly for the important scenes, such as the death scene. More themes of the play are touched on in this scene, God pardon him, I do with all my heart. Juliet shows the audience that even though Romeo killed her cousin, Juliet is able to forgive him and still loves him. He stays true to Romeo. This ties in with the themes of love and loyalty. To emphasise this, I would zoom in on Juliets face, stopping when only her head and torso is in view. While she delivers the line, she could place both hands on her heart and glance towards the window. This would show her heart is still true to Romeo and that she is still thinking of him. Shakespeare wanted the loyalty and love for each other that Romeo and Juliet have to be apparent throughout the play. I would carry this idea on by emphasising this line. To show Capulets authority and dominance over Juliet in this scene, I would use a point of view shot as Juliet, being towered over by her father. In this way the audience could relate to how Juliet is feeling and sympathise with her. I would do this when Capulet insults Juliet. He repeated calls Juliet proud and calls her names such as young baggage, disobedient wretch, tallow-face, sickness-green carrion and unworthy. Although considered mild or amusing today, in the sixteenth century they would be considered extremely strong and forceful. By making these insults look dramatic and harsh, this would better convey Capulets intense displeasure. The scene ends with Juliet on her own speaking her thoughts, a monologue. She reveals how she is feeling about her parents ideas, Ancient damnation, O most wicked fiend and tells the audience that if she cannot get out of it, she wants to die. If all else fail, myself have power to die. This again ties in with the theme of fate and so I believe it is as important as the rest of the scene. To emphasise her distress, I would pan the shot around her, slowly zooming and then resting at a close up on her face when she delivers the last line. I want the picture of just her face and how angry she is to be memorable so at the very end I would cut to a black screen. I believe that my direction of Act 3 Scene 5 by adaptations, choice of characters and use of dramatic devices will make this scene successful.

Regarding accuracy, books always reveal the underlying historical truths broader and more accurately than films can ever. Written work explains all the possible details that most films ignore due to its dullness and the time limit. Learning history through written works, in general, seem more reliable and accurate compare to films produced for mass audience. Essentially, the film Le Retour de Martin Guerre is mostly true, except the fictional account of Bertrandes motives at the end of the trial. In the book, Arnaud du Tilh insisted on being the real Martin Guerre till his death. Bertrande, in the end of the film, confesses that Arnauds eyes told her to give up and admit the newly claimed Martin as real Martin Guerre. In addition, Davis, a script consultant of the film, decided to write a more scholarly version of Martin Guerre after producing the film to assure a more historically accurate and detail work is available to public. However, she mentions in the introduction that she tried to look beyond the historical facts to unravel and understand the motivation behind the characters pursuit. This might input Daviss opinion on possibilities and ideas that Betrande knew that the new Martin Guerre was not her husband and secretively agreed to help him become Martin Guerre. But essentially, this is only a theoretical guess and no one really knows if Betrande actually knew Arnaud du Tilh was her husband or not. Personally I prefer the film over the book. The book was dull and uninteresting than the film. The film made me think the storyline is actually entertaining. The suspense created in the film really made me wonder if the man that claimed to be Martin Guerre, was indeed himself though I knew he was a fraudulent prior to watching the film. The film made the whole historical phenomenon to look real -the atmosphere, buildings, and even the lives of townsmen of Pyrenean village of Artigat seemed real. These really helped me to connect with the characters and the plot. Furthermore, media sources in general are a great way to introduce learners to historical events. Though there can be certain historical flaws, it still gives audiences a general storyline and visual interpretation of how life looked in certain periods. For example, the film, Le Retour de Martin Guerre, really presented the peasant life in the Sixteenth Century in France, while exhibiting the case of Martin Guerre. A person can say that the movie is lacking historical detail; however, the meaning, lesson, and the essence of the storyline were presented in the movie. Although both reading the book and viewing the film helped me enhanced my understanding of the historical event, I would choose to show the film if I had to teach history to students. Reading a historical book may not be as thrilling as watching a film and students might not get enough messages from the book as they are supposed to. But prior to or after viewing the film, I would teach the students some foundation and historical flaws which would help them learn the knowledge of the historical event and characters. In The Return of Martin Guerre, Davis went beyond the historical facts and tried to comprehend the possibilities behind the characters actions and pursuits. Both the film and the print amazingly delivered the historical information of the infamous case of Martin Guerre, a man who lived three years of another mans life by cheating the village of Artigat. Analysis of Sonnet 75 (Amoretti) by Edmund Spenser Essay

Sonnet 75 is taken from Edmund Spenser’s poem Amoretti which was published in 1595. The poem has been fragmented into 89 short sonnets that combined make up the whole of the poem. The name Amoretti itself means â€Å"little notes† or â€Å"little cupids. † This poem is said to have been written on Spenser’s love affair and eventual marriage to Elizabeth Boyle, his second wife. Sonnet 75 centers on the immortality of spiritual love and the temporality of physical love. In the seventy-fifth sonnet of Amoretti, the line scheme of three quatrains and a rhyming couplet is employed. The rhyme scheme is the typical Spenserian sonnet format of the first quatrain being ABAB, the second being BCBC, the third CDCD and the couplet EE. It follows the meter of the iambic pentameter. The first quatrain has a narrative feel to it because of the beginning â€Å"One day I †¦Ã¢â‚¬  The second quatrain starts with a dialogue by a female, most probably the beloved. The third quatrain is an answer again in a conversation because of the use of â€Å"quoth I. † The couplet at the end gives the conclusion like a fact because it uses the present participle tense. Sonnet 75 is a lyric because it tells of the poet’s personal experience. Spenser writes this sonnet in the typical Petrarchan style. It is written in the pursuit of a woman whom he loves. The rhyme scheme coincides with the Petrarchan model. The whole sonnet reeks of the use of imagery. The very opening lines, â€Å"One day I wrote her name upon the strand, But came the waves and washed it away:† create a vivid image of the sea-side. Other excerpts from the sonnet that produce a visual effect are â€Å"decay,† â€Å"wiped out,† â€Å"die in dust,† and â€Å"in the heavens write your glorious name. † while the first three evoke negative images, the last one paints a beautiful, fantastical picture in the mind. The short sonnet incorporates alliteration very often, for instance, â€Å"die in dust,† â€Å"verse your virtue,† â€Å"love shall live,† â€Å"later life,† etc. The sounds that have been continuously been employed are /d/, /w/ and /l/. Alliteration throughout is helping form the images. The /w/ sound in â€Å"waves and washed it away† help create an audio impact of the swishing waves. The repetitive /d/ gives an ominous sound and is used for all such words, for example â€Å"decay,† â€Å"die,† â€Å"death,† etc. There is also repetition of certain words. â€Å"Vain† appears twice in one line. Then, the concept of mortality is conveyed through â€Å"mortal,† â€Å"immortalize† and â€Å"eternize. † The sonnet is rife with symbolism. The sea alludes to the distance that is between the lover and his beloved which is causing pain to the lover. The writing on the sand refers to the lover’s insistence on making a worldly impact on his beloved. The waves are a constant reminder of the cruelty of love, haunting again and again. By washing away the name of the beloved, the waves act as torrents of torture. The sea-side or beach also symbolizes a peaceful, comfortable place where the lover unreservedly expresses himself. The lover’s writing on the sand can be a reference to man’s inherent desire to eternalize his being to be remembered forever. The waves here signify time. The erasing of the name by water signifies the transient nature of human life. It points towards the futility of man’s aspirations for immortality, especially poets who wish to be eternalized through their works. However, irrespective of how many times he may try to make his life meaningful, it is pointless. Everything is transitory and will eventually be destroyed. Personification is an important element in the sonnet. The sea or waves are given human qualities. It â€Å"washed,† and â€Å"made my paynes his pray. † Washing and preying or inflicting pain upon someone are human qualities. The poet has dexterously presented a contrast between the earthly and the celestial ideas and things. While in the first half of the poem, time and nature destroy the poet’s writing and attempts to immortalize it; in the second half the poet immortalizes his eternal, spiritual love through his writings. One of the indirect implications of the typical fifteenth century women being docile and subservient can be found in the waves being given a masculine quality. Normally, nature is associated with the female entity because both are responsible for giving and sustaining life. Here, however, the author’s reason for giving a masculine identity to nature must be because of the malignant role it is playing. Edmund Spenser’s Sonnet 75 from Amorreti is not only an exquisite piece of Elizabethan times, it portrays the quintessential poetry of the time as well. His optimal employment of literary techniques of form, rhyme, imagery, personification and alliteration give the sonnet a wholesome structure and an pleasant quality. Theme : When he writes her name on the sand, her name is washed away by the waves. He tries again and again but his all attempts when the tide is in will be washed. Many terrible things happened in World War 1 or the Great War. For me one of the main points were the injustice of it all, how the officer class treated the young ordinary soldiers, mostly from the working class, I have chosen two poems by Siegfried Sassoon which pick up on these themes â€Å"Base Details† and â€Å"Does It Matter? † In both these poems, Sassoon uses sarcasm to magnify his feelings of both anger and frustration, and this makes both poems particularly poignant. In â€Å"Base Details†, Sassoon portrays the role of an army commander back at headquarters (â€Å"the Base†), well away from the front line. As soon as you read â€Å"Base Details you can tell how much Sassoon hates these base areas, in which the generals lay behind. The sarcasm he uses is so utterly obvious of his hatred and he shows this by using a simple rhyming scheme as if a ? Even in the title, Sassoon begins his sarcasm by punning on the word â€Å"Base† i. e. describing both the place, but also the â€Å"base† behaviour in his view of the people there. Sassoon shows his disgust for such people by portraying men who took themselves so seriously, in their bright red uniforms: â€Å"If I were fierce†¦ I’d live with scarlet Majors†¦ â€Å", but are in reality pathetic, puffing figures: â€Å"†¦ bald, and short of breath† What Sassoon particularly hated was how these pompous people sent miserable young men to die at the Front: â€Å"†¦ speed glum heroes up the line to death† Whilst they were safely tucked away at Base, eating and drinking the best of food and wine: â€Å"Guzzling and gulping in the best hotel† It was so irritating hearing the patronising words of sympathy: â€Å"†¦ poor young chap, I used to know his father well† And of course when the war was over, these officers could return safely and uninjured to England, unlike countless millions of ordinary soldiers and other officers: â€Å"And when the war is done and youth stone dead, I’d toddle safely home and die – in bed. † Every line drips with sarcasm which powerfully brings out the unfairness of how the war was conducted. This brings me to my second point, and what happened when the many injured soldiers returned to Britain, which is what is â€Å"Does it Matter? † is about. In this poem, Sassoon deals with soldiers with physical and mental injuries of all sorts. â€Å"†¦ losing your legs† â€Å"†¦ losing your sight† â€Å"†¦ those dreams from the pit† Having returned, people at home tried to be nice and understanding, but really had no appreciation of how these words would be felt as patronising and how it is to feel you are being pitied in this way. Sassoon again uses a form of sarcasm here, although less bitter than in â€Å"Base Details†. In each of the three stanzas of this poem, Sassoon asks with irony: â€Å"Does it matter? † that the soldier had such and such an injury when it clearly matters whether you have lost you legs, or sight or are going out of your mind with awful nightmares. In each case he paints a picture of how hurtful and frustrating it was for these soldiers to hear people at home almost dismiss their injuries, when they can then happily go about their own lives in a way that the soldiers cannot: â€Å"†¦ when the others come in after hunting (with legs! )† It really was so patronising, even if unintentional, to say: â€Å"There is such splendid work for the blind† Or â€Å"And people won’t say that you’re mad; For they’ll know that you fought for your country And no one will worry a bit. † It is really like saying â€Å"there, there† to a child. War is always an awful thing, and causes much misery for all concerned. In the above poems about the Great War, Sassoon focused on two aspects, the awful unfairness of how ordinary soldiers were sent to their death by useless and vain superiors, and the anguish of those who returned injured caused by the patronising pity of those at home.
